Ireland's National Anthem was composed in 1907, with words by Peadar Kearney and music by Kearney and Patrick Heeney. First published in the newspaper Irish Freedom in 1912, it was sung at the General Post Office during the Easter Rising of 1916. The chorus was formally adopted as the National Anthem in 1926.
