Centre-right Fine Gael and centre-left Labour sign 'Grand Coalition' with overwhelming majority in the Irish Parliament.

Negotiating teams from Fine Gael and Labour agreed to form a coalition government following the result of the Irish General Election held on 25 February 2011.

Fine Gael won the election with 76 seats in the Irish Parliament, but it was seven seats short of an overall majority.

The coalition with Labour's 37 TDs will give the government an overwhelming majority of 113 TDs.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny's 15 ministers include nine Fine Gael members and six from the Labour party.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore was named Tanaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Fine Gael's Michael Noonan got the Finance portfolio, and Richard Bruton became Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation Minister.
