Tuesday, 23 September 2008 12:01
The influential Irish singer died on 16 August at age 73 after a lenghty fight with cancer.

An all-star gathering of Irish musicians, including surviving members of the Dubliners, U2, Sinead O’Connor, Bob Geldof, Oscar winner Glen Hansard, Andrea Coor, Shane MacGowan and a handful of others recorded 'The Ballad of Ronnie Drew' as a tribute to Ronnie Drew’s influence on Irish music and culture.

The song has topped the Irish singles charts.
